Post your personal tributes to Barnabas here. Where'd you first hear Barnabas, what does the music mean to you, what inspiration have you gained from it? Was your life changed by the Gospel as Barnabas presented it?
Mick was FYHAH's guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, and whatever else needed playing. A master bass guitar designer for many years now. Formerly with Peavey, Parker, and Dean, now an independent designer.
First album, 1980. Featuring the songs and guitar of founder Monte Cooley. Very distinct and raw album.. many fans had never heard it before the reissue.
Second album, 1982. Barnabas welcomed Mick Donner and Kris Brauninger aboard, and began a trend toward prog rock style arrangements. The emergence of Kris as a songwriter. Can anyone say " Boogie Tyme!! " ?
Third album, 1983. Beloved by many and usually cited as the first album most of us bought. Let's talk about Subterfuge, If Love Brings Love, and Stormclouds! Brian Belew's impressive debut.
Fourth album, 1984. Contains the acclaimed and best known Barnabas songs, "The Dream" and "Breathless Wonderment", as well as metallic classics such as "Northern Lights" and "Follow You Up"
Special CD compilation, 2000. Assembled by Kris K. , this collectors' item contains music from Barnabas members' side projects, as well as an extended recording of an actual rehearsal- one of the first with Brian Belew.
Compilation of ALS and FTF, 1992. A well-envisioned comeback attempt that went awry under the misguided ears of the Elefante production team. Nonetheless, the first Barnabas CD ever, and cherished by many because our LP's were shot!
Discuss new music with a Barnabas connection. Since 2000, several different projects have been discussed by Kris, Nancy, John Cantrell, Michael Manthei, and others. So far, nothing tangible has been created, but the future is promising.
The Sweet Brothers' band.. best known for their mid-80's yellow and black striped costumes.. a seminal 80's Christian hair band. Progenitors of a massive wave of imitators, many of whom were not quite as good..
More seminal prog-rockers from the early 70's. Another major influence, along with Kansas, on Barnabas in the early 80's. Also, like Kansas, still going strong in 2005!
